Week 5 and I'm glad to be alive!

Yes folks another week down! Week 5 was much better and less hectic than week 4 for some reason. It was probably due to the fact that I didn't have any tests, and that I followed my detailed schedule more. I guess we'll start out this weekly report with what I did from last Saturday to this Saturday. Last Saturday was the bomb, I didn't work and had the great opportunity to spend 11am-5pm with the best single adults in St. George at the YSA conference. It was so good, I look at it as an EFY for adults. I learned so much about trials, patriarchal blessings, being an example all the time, how to have my life Temple centered and much, much more! We also had the privilege to hear form Dallin H Oaks and his wife, and Elder and sister Rasband from the quorum of the seventy. They all talked about being prepared and making sure we know who we are. Sister Oaks is hilarious, did you know she got married when she was fifty!? Holy cow...for all us 22 year olds, stop freaking out if you aren't dating anyone and not getting married-If sister Oaks can do it so can we. I just loved the whole conference and wish they did it every week!

After the conference Tiana and I went on a little roommate date, she is one of my best friends and we're both really busy and we hardly get bonding time. So we decided to go to Pancho and Leftys for dinner, it was delicious! (Plus we had a totally cute waiter) That night also happened to be a wedding reception for one of my co-workers she is also a great friend. So T and I took a leisurely drive out to Pinevalley, it was so beautiful and chilly out there. Her reception was so good and she looked amazing.

The rest of the week just flew by, I went to the gym everyday except Wednesday which was so good. I worked everyday but Tuesday because I had institute which was awesome. Austin came with me and then we went to Olive Garden for dinner, and then to Lindsey's for her belated birthday party. It was so good to hang out with those two just like old times. Wednesday Thursday and Friday I just worked. Saturday I went to dinner and reunited with Kayla Garbett Marshall!! It was sooo great to see her and talk all night. I miss her and will make sure we keep in touch!

It's also been awhile since I've talked to my BFF Hillary and last night she called me! It was so exciting to talk to her and we are both so upset that it has been a whole month since we've talked. This up coming weekend is conference and the roomies and I have tickets!!! So sometime during our up north adventure Hill will meet up with me so I can't wait for that, I miss this girl so much!

Then last night we went to Walmart and then did our weekly tradition of sleeping out in the front room as roommates we do it every Saturday and love it! Then today was awesome, Jaelle and I did our visiting teaching for the month and testimony meeting was better than ever!

This week was really the best week I have had in a long time! I have a great life with lots of friends and people who care about me I am a very lucky girl :)

Music!

I just love music, it is so powerful and I can't imagine my life without it. With that, I thought I would do a post about all my favorites today! I hope you enjoy these and hopefully you hear something new :)
My first favorite is Stronger by Sara Evans, it is just so uplifting because we all have bad days and trials but it's the getting up the next day and trying to get better that matters! I just love it.

I also found out yesterday that Kelly Clarkson is coming out with a new album!! I love her and can't wait for it to come out. Her single Mr know it all it so good! Kelly always knows how to speak to me.

We all have those people who make our knees shake and our heart beat faster Mat Nathanson knows how we feel! This song is up beat and definitely gets stuck in the brain!

The script is really a newer band this song nothing comes off their second album. We have all had those relationships or crushes where the other person doesn't feel the same way and this song says it all.

Of course I love anything glee, this song comes from the last episode of season two. I have a lot if inspiring people in my life and some that have changed me for the better. Some that make me want to be a better person, others that just amaze me by how caring and selfless they are. For good is a very powerful song and makes me realize how truly blessed I am!
I think those are my top favorites today! I always know that music will be a huge part of my life. I am thankful for all those that took their talent and turned into superstars. I don't think I could survive without Avril Lavigne for advice, Taylor Swift for a good cry, and Carrie Underwood on how to get revenge! If you don't, take the time listen to the lyrics and the meanings of all your favorites you'll be amazed at what you find!

It's only week 4?!

I am loving this fall of 2011 semester, don't get me wrong, but lately I have felt like I am drowning. Since my last update school has gotten more hectic. I started having tests which means more of a need to study. I really need A's in two of
my lecture classes, granted they are retakes but I still need to try. Medical terminology kicks my butt, there are so many different prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms in the medical world! I am catching on though, even when I am not in class I find myself breaking down words to find their meanings...it's a little nerdy I know. Coop is just nuts! It's a class that gives you credit for working, it's online and sort of a lot of busy work. I think I have it under control as long as I do all my assignments on/before Thursday night-they are due Friday at 10pm-it worked this week so I am sticking to it! I am also in a fitness center class that requires me to workout 2 hours a week...sounds easy but it's hard to find the time. I am forced to get up at 6 am, 2-3 days a week. I am a morning person but it's still difficult to get up that early to workout. Something must be working because I have lost 2lbs!!! I weighed my
self after todays workout and was so happy!

I didn't think that IHC would be scheduling me so much but they are. I work almost everyday except Tuesdays, and every other Sunday. I am grateful for the hours but it's still hard to manage some days!

Through all the mandatory stuff (school and work) I still try to find time
for myself, last weekend I went on a date, we went to Antigravity, it was so fun! If you have not been there you
need to go. I have also made a goal to go to institute every Tuesday and so far I really love it. Institute is the best thing I could do during my week-other than going to the temple which I am going to do every Wednesday morning starting this week. I also like to get treats, this week I went to Krave because it had been awhile, and I was in heaven! I am going back soon...I went to Orange peel today and chugged my sweet tooth smoothie, I also had a F'real shake this week too..haha I really ate a lot of treats this week!

Student Government is going so good, we have an excellent team this year! Last week we had the opportunity to do a Q&A with Steve Caplin who is the new chair for the board of Trustees for Dixie. It was really awesome to stress our concerns and have him inform us about the on
goings of our dear Dixie school. Our club chartering is also going fantastic! We have made many new clubs and there are many more to come! I have a ton of new friends and just love the atmosphere of the student gov room when I walk in.

The biggest stress that I have been faced with was getting my nursing application done and turned in..Well, it's in and all up to the Lord now. I know whatever happens is his will and I will be taken care of one way or another! Jessica Mitchell and I turned our apps in together and then went to lunch it was great. I received a grommet at our 9/11 ceremony last Sunday and it's said that they bring the recipient luck so hopefully that's true!

That is pretty much the last 4 weeks, I know it will get better I just need to weed out my needs from my wants and make sure I follow my organized daily schedules!

First Week of School

I.Love.DIXIE!!!!!!!!!!
That could be all I type and I'd be fine with that...but don't worry I'll type more! My first week of school was fun, long, exciting, stressful, unpredictable, and well it was school. My classes are not hard two of them are repeats, not because I have to retake them but because I want to. I'm in a part of my life that I'm ready to apply for the nursing program and have no other classes to take, but since I am on student government I need 12 credits. So I am retaking 2 lecture classes to hopefully get A's. I'm also taking medical terminology, and co-op which gives me credit for working. So I feel my studies will be fairly light but we will see. The first week is always so busy with everything going on, my very first day of school was also my first 12 hour day at Dixie. Some of you might be thinking that I'm crazy (I am) but it's really normal to be involved and be on campus that long in just one day...and I can now officially say that I have been there done that!

This is my first day outfit

This is the WOW schedule!

The carnival is always so big and so much fun! This year was no different, there were students, teachers, families, and lots of memories made.

We also did club rush, and had so many clubs participate it was so great. We did minute to win it which was a huge success and the foam dance was off the hook!! Like I said at the beginning of this post I love Dixie and and just so thrilled for the rest of this semester!

Summer Recap

Well, it's that time again.. Summer is over, school is starting and I have blogged once. I'm horrible, therefore I am doing a summer recap to tell you everything that has happened in the last 3 months...ready go! :)

This summer (just like any other) had some pretty high hopes like for instance: going to the Little mermaid at the tuacahn, Phoenix trip with Tiana, hiking a waterfall, and many bonfires! Sadly none of these things happened but I still had a great summer....don't worry :) Where should I even start? Well, the most of my summer was consumed in working two jobs. I hope to get into Dixie's nursing program soon and I needed to get CNA hours to keep my license current, so from April-July I worked two days at St George care, and 5 at IHC. Basically most weeks I worked every night it sucked! The pay checks were good, the experience was good and I got my hours taken care of so mission accomplished I suppose! I also did the summer school thing, I made myself retake two of my science labs to get better grades and guess what? I blew my old grades out of the water I was so excited!!

Now for the things that made this summer memorable, I went home one weekend each month and mostly hung out with my family. One trip we went to the desert star play house and watched Sherluck Holmes it was hilarious.

Another trip I went to Harry Potter with my little sister it was the best!! I love Harry Potter and cried all the way through it, I'm so sad that it's all over.
This summer actually had some really good films come out Pirates 4, Kung Fu Panda 2, Super 8, Cars 2, and Transformers 3!!, Now I have only seen the following: super 8 it was way good I went in not knowing anything about it and loved it, Cars 2 was horrible, and transformers 3 was the bomb.com. Pirates I've heard was so bad, and Kung Fu I just haven't had time to watch. but they are both playing in the dollar theater so I might go see them before school starts...I hope...

We went swimming and tanning so much it was awesome! We also went on many late night runs to Wendys, McDonalds, and Walmart. Jessica and Thomas finally got married it was so great to drive to bunkerville and attend their reception there. Alexis Lynne Bird had her farewell in July I am so glad I go to go home for that I miss her so much! This is the year that either the boys are coming home or the girls are leaving for missions it's kind of crazy! I had the chance to see some of my good friends Nic, Phil, and Russell at Alexis's farewell it was awesome. I'm going home this weekend to hear Cody and Michael speak I can't even wait! Since Jess moved out we got another roommate her name is Randi she's so awesome!! I just love my living situation so much I've gotten very lucky. Randi was a nonmember when she came here to Dixie and through the amazing Elders Goodman, and Hayden she is now a member!! She got baptized on Saturday and it was great. I loved having the missionaries in our apartment every week because of the great spirit they brought.

I've also decided to do student government again this year so I have been working so hard the last couple of weeks to get stuff ready for this semester. We've done a few retreats, cleaned our office area, played with glitter, and lastly we've bought lucky bamboo plants! I love these people I work with and can't wait for the Team of the Century to kick some butt at Dixie State College!!!!

I guess that is pretty much my summer in a nut shell, I can't wait for school to start so I can get a daily routine established and also meet new people!

My Wonderful Sister!

Today is August 24th, and 19 years ago my amazing and beautiful sister
Holly Marie Moat was born!

She is my sister, best friend, roommate, and shoulder to cry on. She's the one I'd call in the middle of the night if I was in trouble, she's my comic relief, my duet partner, my car pooling buddy and much much more! She's deathly afraid of mornings, and loves to stay up late. She hates carbonation and seafood too. She has more shoes than anyone I know (they are her weakness we all have them, and she also works in a shoe department.) She is selfless, full of charity, and cares deeply about her friends and family always! She loves watching the TV shows Psych, bear grylls, andOne Tree Hill. She is a Pandora Radio addict and a love song..well she loves love we'll say that :) If you were to ask her today what her favorite song is however, she would not be able to pick just one. She would end up saying: Last Friday Night by Katy Perry, Till the world ends by Britney Spears, anything Rhianna, and any Boyce Avenue cover!

She is a communications major, which totally fits her because she is definitely a people person! She loves The lord of the rings and spiderman saga, she also enjoys despicable me every now again. Her favorite colors are yellow and grey. She loves headbands, flower clips and also doing other peoples hair. She never leaves home without her phone, she actually never does anything without that phone so she loses track of it all the time. She loves to eat Jimmy Johns, cereal, mashed potatoes, strawberry and banana V8 juice, and cheese its (oh and word to the wise don't ever open her box after she first buys it...she'll kill you) She is still working on her meal making skills but she is the bomb at making brownies!!! She also does great with making scones, she is
the official scone maker of our home!

She has never dyed her hair, been to Disneyland, or been a Lady gaga fan. She has however had her heart broken more than once but has never stopped loving or being loved...she is one of the strongest people I know. She is really never afraid to speak her mind or confront someone who
needs confronting!

Well, this blog was to let the world know how great my sister is and how much I freaking love her!! Happy Birthday dear sister don't ever forget how special you are :)

Best Weekend!!

This weekend was the best weekend that I've had in a long time. It all started because Holly and Tiana had Friday off, so they really wanted to do something BIG. So the brilliant idea was to head to Vegas--Holly has never been and we all really needed to get out of St. George for the weekend. So 5:00 Friday afternoon Tiana, Holly, Aub, and I headed out!

The ride there was thee best! Holly is such an animal I love her, she sings, dances and just makes everything 100 times better. We eventually get to sin city and Holly is freaking out, she's never seen so many tall, big buildings. We gave her the low down and told her some 'rules' to follow.

  1. Don't take the fliers that the people on the side of the strip give you, basically keep your hands to your side.

  2. Don't touch the railings or anything really.

  3. Stay where I can see you at ALL TIMES. It was literally the most stressful Vegas trip I have ever been on.

  4. Don't look up, down, or to the side of you, just keep your head up.

So once we got the rules down it was time to pick up Randi and then go sight seeing the first stop was the Cheesecake Factory, it was the bomb I love pasta and cheesecake. Then we walked up and down the strip my very favorite is the conservatory in the bellagio. I love all the flowers and water tunnels and stuff. I also Love Love Love the fountain show that's outside the bellagio I could watch it all day!

Overall it was a great weekend, it was truly a much needed girls weekend! Thanks Holly, Tiana, Randi, and Aub for being the bestest friends a girl could have!!
