Gonna Soak up the SUN!!!!

I. Love. St George! The weather last week was beautiful and this week is just the same. Today I arrived on campus and found that the fountain had been turned on. Dixie State College students know when the fountain is on that summer is on it's way (it get's turned off in the winter).

Anyway, last week (March 19th-23rd) treated me very well considering it was the first week back. Monday was an easy class day and I didn't work so I had plenty of free time to get caught up. I cleaned my room and bathroom, did homework, paid bills, went to Zumba with Randi and then made crepes for dinner. Tuesday was a normal Student Government Tuesday, there is constuction all over campus including the building that our leadership room is in and somedays it sounds like alien invasion is happening. Wednesday and Thursday I worked it was super busy both days. We canceled our FHE on Monday and moved it to Thursday, so Thursday after work I headed to our BBQ and the Dixie baseball game. I decided that I am not a fan of watching baseball, I love supporting  my dear Dixie school but baseball is not my thing. After FHE we went home, made Rand a wedding countdown chain and then did some studying.

Friday I worked till 2:30 and then my weekend started. Tiana and I went to get pedicures-greatest thing after a long work week-then we went to sonic for half priced slushies and drinks. Friday night was spent eating pizza, watching college ball on TV, doing some homework and ending it with Towerhiest. Saturday I got up early to finish my homework and workout, then I went to work till 7. Saturday night is always girls night so all my closes friends came over and we went to walmart, painted nails and watched the First Wives Club.

Sunday was pretty normal...except the fact that we got a new bishop!! I've had the same YSA bishop for 3 years now and it's so weird to have a new one. My roommates went to our old bishops house that night and gave him and his great wife cookies. It took everything I had not to cry, he's a great man and I am seriously going to miss him dearly.  Like I said this week was super slow and it was great! The next few weeks are seriously going to be crazy-school is ending!! It's bitter sweet because I want it to be over but I don't want to do the necessary work for that to happen. I wish I could graduate but not do any work to accomplish that! Only in a perfect world!

Spring Break 2012

Sadly, spring break went quicker than quick! I worked Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday then went home Wednesday-Sunday. Work was crazy-I felt like I lived at the office those days. Wednesday was the best though because I found out that I was chosen to be employee of the quarter for last quarter!! My goal for probably the last year has been to be the employee of the quarter, I got a gift card and my name is on the plaque in the office. My motive for being a great employee isn't to get recognition but it's always nice to get some.

Wednesday after work I hurried home to pick up my stuff and sister then we headed to T-Town. My parents were not expecting us until Thursday afternoon so that was fun surprising them. We left St George so late and ended up getting home around 10:30 so at first we freaked my parents out but then they were so happy! We chatted for a while then went to bed.

Thursday we slept in and didn't really do much until later in the day. My mom literally had the whole weekend planned out so Thursday was my only day to make plans with friends. Every college has different Spring Breaks so there really wasn't anyone in town to hang out with so I was really excited to find out that Zack Kotyk was home from his mission so I could have at least one friend to see. So we hung out Thursday night-got caught up with each other's lives, I  heard lots of his crazy stories and we just laughed and acted like he wasn't even gone for two years. I also made sure he got up to date on all the latest movies so we watched Iron Man II and it was so great! Lets be honest, that was the first time I saw it too. After the movie we went to get slurpees-I have to get one every time I am up north because southern Utah doesn't have a single 7-11! Friday was mom and kids day, my mom took work off and we just hung out all day. We made a spring wreath from scratch, I swear my mom is just brilliant and so very crafty.  We also went to the new smoothie/frozen yogurt place in town, it was delicious!

Plastic Wreath

Flowers that we put in the wreath

Friday night we didn't have anything planned so I got to hang out with Zack again! He came over and played just dance 3 with us and then we watched one of my favorite movies Super 8. It was fun and I was surprised how well he danced, my brother was the champ for at least 6 songs and then Zack just got up and de-throned him it was freaking hilarious! March two years ago my parents were married and then my family was sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple. It was one of the best days of my life and an event I will cherish forever. Every March we go to the Temple and celebrate our anniversary by doing a baptismal session. This year we decided to go to the Jordan River Temple, it was the bomb. After the Temple we went to my grandparents house for a st. patricks day spaghetti lunch. After that it was naptime, then time for bowling and laser tagging with my family. Each one of my family members are excellent bowlers and if we joined a league we'd kick trash! After my family time Zack and I decided to hang out just one last time before I went home. We literally drove all around Tooele County-looking at the new editions to our town and just talking about life. Sunday morning was his homecoming he did so great! Then I went to my home ward and realized I have thee best ward and miss them so very much. We ate Sunday dinner then had a very emotional goodbye around four and then headed back to St George. I loved being home and will return there sooner than later.

It Happens!

Ain't no rhyme or reason
No complicated meaning

Ain't no need to over-think it
Let go, laughing
Life don't go quite like you planned it
We try so hard to understand it
The irrefutable, indisputable fact is
Pshh It happens

Life is just as this song says, very unpredictable and it just happens. I have not blogged over two weeks and I am so sorry!  Since my last post I've obviously done a ton with my life! The week of the 30th-3rd was the week for voting! Sadly we didn't quite have the amount of votes that we wanted...we had less than a 1,000 students vote-it was depressing!  In the end Brody, Wyatt and Greg won and are our new students leaders for the upcoming school year.

VP of Academics, Student Body Pres, and VP of clubs!
That week all I did was study and work. I hate microbiology and can't wait til it's over!!!  I am so thankful for Aubrey and Sydney though because without these two girls I would literally be so dead right now. Praise study groups! I have never really had huge midterms before this semester, and let me tell you I do not like them. My micro lab midterm was horrible, I studied so hard and still the answers didn't come. Thank heavens for great teachers who curve and give us more than we deserve. I ended up walking out with a B and am very pleased with that! Last week was just hard, this week is SPRING BREAK and by the time this week comes around most students are just so done! Of course all your professors have to give you tests and a lot of other stuff to do. Last week I had two tests and some little homework assignments. I was in the library everyday and just never had a free moment. I did very well on both my tests and all my assignments. Tuesday my grandparents were passing by on their way to vacation so we got breakfast. I love my grandparents and am so grateful for them. Tuesday I also went to Cafe Rio with the 'Write-Ean in' committee, it was delicious and I am so glad I could help Ean even if we didn't win. He had  more votes than any write in ever has so that's a win in my eyes! That night our ward had a girls basketball game, I have not played bball in like ages and was so rusty and nervous to play. In the end we had a team plus one  two show up and I didn't have to play as long. We had some superstars show up and we played a great game. We lost but it was still so fun! I didn't get any pictures of anything this week and I am so mad. I did however get pictures of our midweek Princess party that happened on Wednesday. The relief society has been around for 170 years! Isn't that amazing? Our incredible presidency put together an awesome birthday party and I loved every second of it. I won't upload all the pics but just some, they did a princess theme obviously and made every table a different princess table.

We had to sit at the princess Tiana table for my roommate Tiana!

Rand and I are thee fairest of them all!

She loved the candy bar!

These are just a few of them, they took every princess and made the table around her and her movie! The tables were awesome and I really enjoyed being a princess for a couple hours! After this activity we just went home and actually watched Tangled and did some homework. Thursday and Friday consisted of studying, taking tests, and rushing to work. I had so much to do these two days and was constantly in panic mode I felt. By the time I got off work Friday night though I had everything done and Spring break 2012 had begun. I took a much needed personal trip to Walmart was there for like an hour then went home thinking I was ready for bed but no. The roommates decided we were hungry and went to McDonalds. After that though I was so tired and went to bed. Saturday morning my grandparents were driving back through on their way home so we met up for breakfast once again (this week was not a normal week I NEVER eat out this much...don't judge me) this time Hol and I decided to pay. My grandpa hates when we offer to pay so while he was not looking we stole the bill and paid, he loved it! He called my mom that night and told her all about it. It made us feel so great! Saturday night was girls night-we ate treats and watched the new footloose it was really good. It wasn't as good as the first but it wasn't worse if that makes sense. My favorite was the songs, they did the same ones but remade them. Holding out for a hero was the best. We also watched Jack and Jill with Adam Sandler, freaking hilarious! I loved it and will probably buy it!

Since Saturday was daylight savings time it was so hard Sunday to get up at a reasonable time. I love the results of the time change but getting my body used to them sucks. So after we slept so late  we made waffles and then went to Church it was uplifting! For dinner I Had a little date with Tiana, everyone else was doing other things so we ate chicken Alfredo together it was nice to have time to just chat with Tiana about life. After dinner Rand came home and Tiana left so Rand and I had our own movie night, we watched Jack and Jill again since they weren't due til 9. After that we played phase ten with the group it was fun! I did so well and was in third place after all was said and done. We then took a late night trip to Dennys there is no school this week and we need to party it up.  Funny story about Dennys though-we walked in and became regulars! The waitress has been the same one every Sunday night and she just loves us. After Dennys we watched a law and order episode and then called it a night!

Like I said this week is Spring Break, I wish I was going to Cali or somewhere warm and beachy but I am just going home for a few days! I really miss my family and can't wait. In the end home is better than any other vacation ever! I hope everyone has such a great week I know I will!!

Make Every Moment Count

This week was literally full of surprises, and unpredictable things happened. Monday was Presidents day all I did was study and work. Tuesday was Student Government Tuesday and all my meetings went so well, we just have the best team of the century and I am so glad I participated this semester. Glee that night was EPIC!! All you Gleeks out there know what I am talking about...It was so great from the first five minutes to the last! They did awesome songs and it was just great. I am so anxious for the finale on April 10th and it can't come fast enough! Wednesday was the best day of the week for me! I looked so great, did awesome on my dance test, felt well rested and was also very productive! The day ended with our huge men's Basketball game against BYU-Hawaii, winning that made us PAC West CHAMPS!!!!!!!!  It was so intense and we almost went into double overtime. We whited out the student section and had the most students I have ever seen at our games.

44 scored our 3 pointed that led us to our win!

We stormed the floor after winning

our 2012 CHAMPS!
It was a night that I'll never forget! I was on cloud nine for hours after that and could not settle down! Thursday Morning when I got on Facebook and saw all these pictures (courtesy of the Dixie Sun) I got excited again! The remaining of my Thursday I worked, studied, took a power nap,  and hung out with some ICC members. Carlos and Ean came over to investigate a bill that Raging Red proposed. We talked for like an hour then Carlos had to go. Ean confessed to Holly and I that he was in over his head with his election stuff and needed our help. Well, Holly has been holding out on me all these years, apparently she is a campaign beast! She literally busted out his whole plan of attack in like an hour. She had his Facebook done (groups-write Ean in), other advertising things in place and just amazed me! Ean is currently a write in for the 2012-2013 VP of clubs position. I truly think any one who votes for him won't be disappointed.

Friday I worked, then came home and hung out with Holly and Randi. We didn't do much just talked, made videos, and eventually went to Menchies. We brought our mattresses out and had a sleepover. Saturday morning I got up cleaned the church, did laundry, did homework, and then went to work. After work Aubrey and I met up then went to the FINAL home game of this season. It was against Chaminade and they are really good but so are we! We were neck and neck the whole time and almost had to go into overtime because of it. With 2 seconds left Chaminade scored and we just couldn't get one more score in. We almost had a three but it was short! I am still so proud of our boys they had an awesome season and made me love Dixie Basketball! I am not sure what to do with my free Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights but I'll figure something out. Today was stake conference and it was so good, honestly I wasn't even going to go but yesterday on my drive to Kanab for work I decided that I should. We just talked about things that I really need to improve in my life. Elder Wade from the Quorum of the 70 and his wife were our guest speakers, they were amazing and I loved sister Wade. She was the only speaker who brought me to tears, we were talking about be diligent and keeping the commandments. She then said something along these lines: there are some of you out there that are doing all you should; you read your scriptures, go to the Temple and all your meetings. Somehow you are still waiting for answers, keep doing what you are doing and they will come! I am crying right now just typing these words.  I know that the lord knows all that I am doing it's just about waiting and trusting! I felt the spirit very strongly during those two hours and am so very glad that I have examples around me that inspired me to go! I love this gospel and would not be the person I am today without it. The Temple has been closed for two weeks for cleaning and maintenance and it has been the longest two weeks. I didn't realize how blessed I am to have the Temple with in walking distance until now.  The closest Temple other than St. George is two hours away (north and south) some people in this world  have to drive more than that! I am so excited to go this week and love the blessings I receive from going each week!

St. George Temple

My sister and I at the SLC Temple...FAMILIES ARE FOREVER!
After conference Holly and I just hung out, Randi and Tiana are out of town so it's just been a sister weekend-I have loved it. Tonight we are making cupcakes with frosting (both homemade) and watching Once Upon a Time. I hope everyone has a fabulous week and Dixie State College students don't forget to vote!!

Living young, wild and free!

I am just currently loving life! I really am not struggling in anyway and I am very happy! My title is what it is because that is exactly how I live..maybe not wild. This week was awesome! It started Sunday night at midnight (technically Monday morning) when the gang and I decided to do a Denny's run. We piled in two cars and never looked back. They recently brought back their banana foster french toast skillet and I had been craving it for two days! It was so fun and I loved every minute of our little adventure...that is until I got up at eight-am for Microbiology.

By the time all my classes were done at three I was literally going to pass out! I took a little power nap and then got ready for FHE. Since Valentines Day was Tuesday we decided to do heart attacks for the widows in our boundaries. It was such a great activity, it would have been better if it wasn't a complete down poor but we survived. Tuesday was the dreaded Valentines Day or single awareness for those that are obviously single. I usually don't make a huge scene on V-day I hate when girls do that. I bought  my roommates Valentines and also candy for the ICC, I wore red and printed my agendas on pink paper. I came home to flowers from my beautiful sister Holly and then went on a girls only date with Holly, Randi and Aubrey. I love Dixie State College basketball so we went to the game, it was so good and my first game that I stood in the front row. At first I didn't like it because I couldn't really see but in the end it was the bomb.Wednesday and Thursday I worked, I hate one day doing a night shift and the next a day shift. I was home for 10 hours then back at work, horrible. I really shouldn't complain I am so fortunate to have the job I do and I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Friday morning I had the opportunity to go to a bookstore forum thing. They had bookstore reps from all the colleges in Utah and I sat on a student panel with four others. They asked us questions and we also asked them questions about books and prices and stuff like that. It was very interesting and I enjoyed seeing how other colleges do things. I walked out with $25.00 to the bookstore and two free movie tickets so that was a plus. I worked until nine and then we did girls night, we went to McDonalds and then watched the new Twilight movie.  Saturday I had off and just hung out with Tiana till five when she left me to hang out with her family in Mesquite. I ended up cleaning my room, doing laundry, going hot tubing, and finished the night with a fantastic bonfire! I love fires and have missed them so much. Sunday it was my turn to work, I drove to Kanab and back. It's not the best route but sometimes it is was nice to drive and just think. I love my job because of the drives and just the alone time I get. Yesterday I was just thinking about my life and some of the qualities I possess, there are two things I dislike about myself that I'd really like to change. I won't expound on them because they are personal. I just know that I want to be a better person and that is a daily process but I am up to the challenge.

Last night we decided to watch Mega Mind and then go to Denny's again because there is no school today...Holla! I have a huge microbiology test this week and am constantly studying. I did three study groups last week and have many scheduled this week. I am so serious about this studying thing that I was up at nine to study...I did go back to bed for an hour though. I just have to do well in this class and it is taking everything I have to do so. This is really the only class that I am working so hard for which is good because I couldn't handle another one. Last week the weather was bipolar, a common thing for Utah, it rained 24-7 Monday-Thursday maybe and then was beautiful Friday-today. The sun has been shinning and it hasn't been too chilly. It's cold when you first walk out the door and then again at night. One of my besties Karissa is in Cancun right now and I am so jealous! I really, really want to go sit on a beach and get some sun. The weather here is much better than weather in Utah County so I can't complain. I live in an area that others come to vacation in the winter time, that's super weird to me. I hope the sun stays shinning and the weather stays warm. This week I work five days...for some that is normal but me I work three and I'm done. It will be good for me though. There are two basketball games this week and they are the last home ones of the season. We have had a pretty awesome season and I'm sure the teams are looking forward to being done.  I have three tests-nutrition, dance, and micro. Thanks to my preparation and study groups I'm not stressed at all. I need some practice for dance but it'll be good. That is all I have for now hope everyone has a great Presidents Day!!

Live, Laugh, Love!

I love blogging! I love being able to look back on my weeks and semesters and remember all the good times I have had here at Dixie and in this beautiful land of St. George. These last couple of weeks have been no different and have only emphasized that I love it here! If I could stay here the rest of my life I probably would but you see I am trying to get into nursing school. I would LOVE to get into Dixie's program but I still  need to apply everywhere. 2 weeks ago, on the 1st to exact, I turned in my nursing application to Weber State University. I hate these in between stages of life that we go through, I hate the uncertainty of my future all riding on a few pieces of paper. I feel really good about my application and hope that means something come April when I finally find out. I spent a few hours just researching Weber and if it was something that I really wanted and well folks the conclusion is yes! It could be a place for me! Like I just said Dixie is where my heart is and  I will cry for days if I have to leave but when one door closes another opens right...? Anyway it's still up in the air but cross your fingers for me alright? Another phase of life I hate is the dating phase... so thank heavens that our brilliant student life branch decided to bring the famous Date Doctor to Dixie. I learned so much and left feeling confident and ready to pick up some guys...we didn't do that though. Case, Aub and I ended going to Aub's house to make cookies and watch a movie! Both turned out to be an epic fail. In the end we came back to my house to watch a movie but all fell asleep, we suck. Sunday the 5th we as YSA's of St George had the honor of being in the presence of greatness for a couple of hours. Elder David A Bednar came to speak to us! He was just awesome and I very much enjoyed it! He decided to do a Q & A kind of a thing and some of the questions were deep and his answers went deeper. He is a great man and definitely called of God. It was super bowl Sunday as well but our institute was packed! I was so proud! I had a picture of all the people but I lost it so you'll just have to take my word on it! He said something that really stuck out to me. My whole life I have been told to keep a list of qualities you want your future spouse to have. Well Elder Bednar said no we shouldn't do that, we just need to be the people we want to date. Those with your same qualities will find you! It was just really profound!

The weekend of inspiration was much needed, the dating advice came in handy when we did speed dating for our FHE last Monday. I met a few prospects but we'll just have to see!  On Wednesday the 8th the service committee put on a sweethearts dance for the elderly of our community. I love old people and look forward to this activity each spring. We never have an outrageous amount of students show up but this worked in our favor this time. We had some nursing homes cancel on us so the student/resident ratio was perfect. We played bingo and danced the night away!  I really enjoyed myself and was in such a great mood the rest of the night. After this activity I headed over to my RS midweek activity. We made "be mine" blocks they were super easy and turned out so cute!

The Sweetheart Dance
Thursday and Friday I worked and they were both very busy days. I have been studying like crazy as well, microbiology is much harder than I anticipated and might be the death of me. Dance class has been fun so far we have learned the waltz and the foxtrot which I don't like very much. Because of all this hard work Friday I took a break! Every week Friday is usually date night and Saturday is girls night...well this week we did a little switch-a-roo. The Vow opened on Friday and we just had to go see it, plus it was Mark Fosters wedding reception (both of which are girly events). We stopped at the reception first it was so pretty I loved the location and the colors. I have known Mark for a year now and have never seen him so happy! He was glowing and I was happy for him and hope that someday I can be that happy! After that we headed to theater number one which was sold out. We then booked it to the other theater and got tickets and way good seats. The movie was so good I cried the whole time and could not contain myself. The ending could have been better but I'll still buy it when it comes out.

I ended the weekend with the DSC red storm killing the A of A university in basketball Saturday night! It was such a great game and I don't know what I am going to do with myself after the season ends. There are only 3 more home games...it makes me cry just thinking about it! This last game the Jazz bear came out and he was awesome! I often found myself just watching him mess around and missing the intense game.

Today I had the great opportunity to go to church and it was fantastic as always! I love this gospel and can't imagine my life without it. I love my savior and am so grateful for the atonement and all that it entails. I am grateful for my friends and family who keep me on the path and catch me when I stray. I trust in the lord with all my heart and know that everything happens for a reason and I know that when I do what's right that I will only be blessed! I hope everyone finds true happiness like I have! I love you all and hope you have a great week!
